The Web Page Toolbar

June 19th, 2008 by User ImageAndreas from Xavier Media (Who am I?)

Some time ago I wrote about the AboutUs widget for your web browser and as you remember I said that it was good.

I've been doing some thinking since then and I figured out that I wanted some more from a toolbar, like all the web sites I use when looking up a web page I visit. So I asked my co-workers what databases and tools they used in their daily work here at Xavier Media, started working on the toolbar and here it is: the Web Page Toolbar for web professionals in the need of a toolbar to look up web sites :D The working name was at first Xavier Toolbar, then AboutUs Toolbar but as more features was added I liked Web Page Toolbar much better. Don't you?

The toolbar lets you look up web sites at Alexa, AboutUs.org, BuiltWith.com, Technorati, WebSiteValued, Compete, Quantcast, eXavier, WayBack machine and many more. You can also add sites you visit to your watchlist at Aboutus.org, check out the AboutUs article and view the change history of the article (this feature is a little bit buggy at the moment :( ).

The toolbar is free and can be downloaded from Mozilla (click on the button below).

By selecting where you would like to look up the web pages you visit in the drop-down menu a new tab is created with the requested information for sources like AboutUs, Alexa, Compete, Technorati or WayBack Machine. You can also use web tools like Pagerank Prediction or Visual pagerank Checker from iWebTools.

The web tools found in the toolbar

Using the AboutUs.org drop down list you can look up the web page you visit, write a review at AboutUs or add the site to your watch list at AboutUs.org. Some of these features may require an account at AboutUs, but it’s free to sign up.

Some of the more popular search engines are available directly from the toolbar. Just write your search term in the search box and select the search engine you would like to query. The results will be opened in a new tab.

WebPage.nu

The official web site for this toolbar is WebPage.nu where you can find more information about the toolbar.

Please let me know what you think of this toolbar and please also let me know if you got any suggestions for more features :D
