You need a task manager

Since we’re all in an Internet related industry somehow we’re all having at least one project going on (sometimes even several projects at the same time). When post-it’s on your screen is not enough to keep you organised in a structured way, then you need a task manager. The thing is not only to make money online, you must also use your time as efficient as possible. That’s why a task manager is so useful, because you will lose customers if you miss your deadlines all the time
I kept all my projects and tasks on a handwritten piece of paper next to my computer until I noticed the April Fool joke at TUK about Fruitful Times Taskmanager. I downloaded the trial version and noticed almost immediately that it lacked a few things I needed like access to my tasks and projects from any computer. After some searching I found TaskFreak!, a free and easy to use multi-user task manager you can setup on your own web server so you can access it from any computer.

Some advantages with TaskFreak!:
- Mutli-user - Ok, you may not need it today, but really soon a friend will help you with a project (even if it’s a small one) and then a multi-user task manager may come in handy. You can of course give users different permissions (both on user level and on project level).
- Web based - You can access it from anywhere, so you can create projects with people from the other side of this planet
- File sharing - Files needed in the project can be uploaded into the task manager so everyone in the project can share the information needed like software documentation, budgets in Excel etc (a free plugin> from the TaskFreak forum is needed for this functionality).
- Comments - On each and every task inside a project you can write comments for example what you’ve done or what’s not working correctly yet.
- History - Each task got a History tab where you can see how much has been completed of the task and which user made the changes to the task.

- You can set individual priority and deadlines for each and every task and the task list can be sorted by priority, deadline, user, title, project, status etc.
- The price - It’s free.
- Exports and imports - You can import tasks and projects from for example Excel and also export them later
- Time clock - If you’re working as a consultant and charge your customers by the hour, then you can install a plugin that will count the minutes you’re working on this project
. You get a complete list of what you’ve done and how long each and every task took you!
To get a feel of how the software is working before you install it on your own web server, they have a demo for you at demo.taskfreak.com.
I’m going to use TaskFreak! for all my projects both small and big, single user and multi user projects. I can really recommend you all to get a task manager you too because it makes your work a lot easier because you got everything in one place and everything is logged so you can go back and see when you deleted that special task or whatever
