As you may have noticed the Internet was almost drown in April Fool Jokes this year
and some of us noticed it directly while others got angry about the ideas or stories. Some even said some of the stuff where good ideas and innovative products/services. Here are some of the April Fool jokes I found this year:
Domain Tools
Jay Westerdal from domain tools told a story about a new service from Domain Tools. This new whois tool will let Intellectual property attorneys track down offenders of trademarks in domain names in a new and innovative way
Jay says in his blog:
Our technology has gotten so good we believe we can predict what people will registered about 36 hours before they commit the crime.

Searching stuff from the future seems like a popular thing this year since Google Australia launched gDayâ„¢ with MATEâ„¢ search function where you can search content 24 hours before it’s created
Google spiders crawl publicly available web information and our index of historic, cached web content. Using a mashup of numerous factors such as recurrence plots, fuzzy measure analysis, online betting odds and the weather forecast from the iGoogle weather gadget, we can create a sophisticated model of what the internet will look like 24 hours from now.
Google also created a new email function in Gmail where you can send emails back in time. The emails you send end up in the mail box of the recipient in chronological order and you can select to have the emails marked as read
. Imagine how this would have been abused it it was for real
Some other Google jokes:
- Build Your Very Own Google Airplane
- Google Wake Up Kit
- YouTube RickRolls Users
- Google And Virgin Team For Human Settlement On Mars
Problogger.net
Problogger wrote that he’s starting a new service called PayPerTweet where you get paid to Tweet about stuff
You can also get extra cash by re-Tweeting stuff. This could actually have been true since there are services like PayPerPost already. You can also find an explanation of the joke here
JohnCow.com
John Cow did something really ugly (but at the same time funny
). I’m not going to spoil the fun for you so just go to the post and read it for yourself. At first it didn’t look like any joke at all…..but have a look at the links in the bottom of the post
Wall Street Journal
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that companies are sending their IT people to hacker-camp to keep up with the hackers

Wired
This story about Deutsche Telekom could have been an early April Fools joke, but I guess it’s not since DT wanted to sue Swedish TeliaSonera some time earlier for using the color magenta in their logo
. Read it for your self and let us know what you think: Deutsche Telekom to Engadget: We Own The Color Magenta
