A word to Domains By Proxy…that first does cost about 20$ and not 2$, and not protect you from being subpoenaed. Even a normal police officer can call them up and your privacy is gone.
Go offshore! Privacy in the US with a US registrar…just impossible. Don’t get yourself fooled by GoDaddy!

You have a point, but if you’re not going to do illegal stuff you still may want to keep people from finding your true identity. Whois privacy is fantastic if you for example would like to hide your phone number as a blogger if you don’t want people to call you in the middle of the night to discuss your latest blog post.
